I’m learning davinci resolve to edit and it’s hard. And I did make up some plot for my oc on the spot lol

What does it mean to have a good summer

Just learned how to embed spotify song lol

I was wondering if i have used my 2 month of summer break wisely, and does productivity = a good summer? Compared to last year, i felt like i drew less and worked more. Oh and i didn't travel this summer. What i find interesting is that summer break is unique and feels different to everyone because of the control you have over your scheduel and the lack of deadlines.
Funny thing, at the end of summer school and before i started my job i felt really guilty to have fun. Like my brain has grown so accustomed to ddl and fixed scheduel i feel like im ignoring something important to do while there ISN'T anything important to do. Took me like 2 weeks to not feel guilty when rotting at home.

On a side note, i found that i scroll on my phone because i'm indecisive of what i want to do between two activities..

I think i just DON'T want to accept that school is starting. Also can we just stop putting back to school ads on like everywhere, annoying asf

But there are things that i achived this summer that i couldn't last time, like starting this blog and finishing an animation, 2 jobs, better summer school grade...etc. So i think i will consider this summer well spent, eventhough i'm uncertain of the future, i can confirm the effort i put in as of now.

yeah i just really don't wanna be back in the seasonal depression jail of winter.

Cosmic princess Kaguya

This movie is so freaking good, i knew i should have watched it sooner.
Basically a reimagination of the japanese folklore (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter) where a princess (Kaguya) from moon travels to earth and is found as a baby in a bamboo. In the movie, Kaguya meets a highschool girl named Iroha and they do all kinds of fun shenanigans together. One of which, is going into a VR virtual world to see concerts & etc.

The artstyle can look experimental like this ^

Since music is also one of it's central focus, 6 vocaloid produces worked on original songs for the movie, and theres a remix of World is mine by supercell performed which is CRAZY

yeah and time travel space yuri lowk made me cry

idek how to explain how good the animation is so here the trailer, i watched it on BiliBili

Designing

Been trying to redesign my oc's outfit and remaking an old oc but it's going slow.

In terms of character design, i definetly prefer simpler designs with bolder shape language cause i just find them more fun to draw (and take less time).

On a side note, i always think of Rea's characters when i design, i'll make a longer study on their designs but i think they show "less is more" in their design really well.

This is the old design i made a few months ago

WIP sketches of the new design

I fixed up a few things so it feels smoother to draw but ts actually taking so long uhhhhhhh

Witch hat atelier and drawing

In WHA, magic is practiced the same way as art; a skill that you train by putting pen to paper. Unlike other fantasy shows, i feel like WHA grounds the mystry of a magic system by constructing it as a form of craftsmenship instead of some magical source to be tamed.

1) The line drawn between "witches" and "outsiders"

I think the use of "outsiders" specifically highlights the knowledge witches hold compared to regular people. It seperates how the two societies view the world and create a huge gap for misunderstandings.

Ngl, when i first read the manga, i really empathized with Agott. Although i know people criticize her for being harsh towards coco for the first few volumes, but i think thats the most relateble part.

Coco, being an outsider going into the world of witches with no experience of spell casting is an out right humiliation of Agott's years of practice and the hard work she paid to be accepted into the atelier. Since Coco still does not understand the complications of being a witch and the responsibilities that comes with it, making Agott distance her even more.

For me, these interactions remind me of when people who don't draw comments on my art. Or over-simplify art movements due to their lack of knowledge. And i do sometimes feel a deep sense of irritation because non-artists will probably never understand what it takes to be here and how arrogant they unintentionally sound.

And it's simply because of unintention, that it creates a mental gap between our world views.

2) Art is everywhere for thoes with the eyes to see

I think that if you keep drawing, it stops being just a hobby, but blends into your sense of self. (for me at least)

The reason i was able to catch Kamome Shirahama's metaphor of witches being artists is bc i am one myself. The reason why i get irritated when people make dumb comments on my art is because it threatens my ego as the creator, and the reason why i don't skip intros is because i know people spent more time creating them than the sum amount of time i'm using to see them.

Of course, thats just me and these are just some habits i notice

there’s another instructor at the camp so i get to sit around

Efficiency in drawing - Kotteri study

I think when it comes to drawing, one of the most important (and most difficult) thing you can learn is speed.

From looking at how my favourite artists draw, i've been seeing a trend; they use lines efficiently and clearly. Let's take Kotteri's sketches for example,

Her lines are clean and confident because of her extensive experience. On the note of experience, i definetly think speed is one of the last things people achieve throughout their art journey, because it fundementally requires so much practice and fundemental of shapes. The more often you draw, the quicker it gets.

Next, efficiency does not only apply to character art, but everything elese too.

These sketches are also from Kotteri, I can tell it's her because of the curves and hatches she uses. And most importantly, the clean lines. I think training efficiency is really just training your control of lines, and that shows in everything you draw.

Besides, speed gives your art rythm. I remember looking at art from 3-4 years ago and seeing how light my lines were because i was scared to make a mistake. What ends up happening is that the whole drawing looks stiff. Rythm in lines should have a blend of curves and edges in varying lengths to summarize shapes instead of having too much detail that breaks up the line of action.

Don't underestimate these sketches, they are like the foundational pillars for rendering, folds and colors. High speed also means quicker thumbnailing for bigger pieces.

Not to mention the sheer amount of Kotteri sketches i can find just on pinterest proves how much she draws

Go read Veil!!

Vampire hunter D bloodlust

It’s insane how beautiful this movie is

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, is a 2000 dark fantasy[4] vampire adventure[5] anime film written for the screen and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri. It is based on the 1985 novel Vampire Hunter D: Demon Deathchase by Hideyuki Kikuchi.

The lasso fill brush is really good

The designs were the only good part of this movie

The whole thing was so confusing and boring and no explanation of any character motive at all

The CGI looked weird

I had high hopes for it bro

Some kids are unmistakably, definetly, deliberately irritating

I have a 2nd part time job and it's summer camp counsellor.

The main finding after trying to co-exist with thoes little things after 2 days for 4 hours per day is that:

thoes little hell spawns lack empathy because their brain is barely developed.

Despite my harsh wording, it is entirely true.

The brain 101: The early activation of Amygdala of the brain makes kids prone to instatnt gratification and without any thought for the outcome OR how it affects others. (Because the frontal lobe responsible for critical thinking isn't developed yet.)

And MAYBE one of thoes outcomes might be driving your minimum-wage camp counsellor insane, little william.

Anyways, aside from sheer annoyingness, theres also this thought in my mind that "why are kids like a WHOLE different breed of humans?"

Let me be clear, i know that kids can be nice and understanding, i've met them before. But some kids at the camp, it's like talking to a wall. I don't know what drives them in their little goblin heads and they don't know i'm about to commit cannibalism.

Jokes aside, i've figured out that they're just too young to understand empathy of any sort. Like if i told you to shut your mouth right now because i hate talking over people, any decent human being would. Because of empathy and etiquette and im pissed af, and you would know im mad through my tone, body language and word choice.

But any of thoes social etiquettes i'm used to being sheltered under is gone. No one besides my coworkers care about how i feel and i underestimated the effects of that.

Some may find kids cute that way, always thinking out of the box that we're used to. But i do not in the very least, the box is there to keep me sane.

I like blogs, i dont like instagram

I never knew how social media complicates my life is until i started this blog.

Why are there so many like, stuff? You can post a story, reel, instants or a note. which basically are the same thing in different fonts, made to waste more of your time.

I also really hate how everybody has private accounts, like you want me to manually follow you back for the sake of just following you as some kind of eiquette and never interact with you for the rest of my life? well, most people dont even post a thing anyways.

ngl instagram just makes everything about human social interaction so much more complicated, in means of wasting your time.

You have control to see who's doing what all the time, thats bad. It makes you too self conscious over every action.

When it comes to blogs, it feels more like something i own on the internet. I removed comments, because i want this to be more about myself rather than others. I actually had to use my brain to customize everything, ngl, how your blog looks expresses more about who you are than a million stories you post. Because you put work into it.

I never cared for the opinions of others, instagram might judge me for turning off comments, but here? hey, you never even knew comments were an option in the first place. did you even question it's absence? lol

The whole point of posting for me is to document life, and all the options instagram gives you complicate that simple cause and it irritates me.

I put this blog on my bio, i know people in my list of follows can see it. But i have no control over who sees this over time. Because i couldn't careless. The way instagram magnifies social interaction counters my personality completely.

I like posting here, i dont get all worked up about what others think. It's public, i dont care about whos reading this.

I’m at part time job

 I’m bored

Sometimes I feel useless at work because idk what to do but ngl as long as I get paid and I’m trying I don’t really care

I do cashier, cleaning and supervision (sitting around) in the playground

I mean I guess everyone else just also sit around anyways

Last time I had to count like 64 boxes of juice because there’s a party and it took stupidly long lol

Puzzle games

It's hard to admit but im like REALLY bad at puzzle games. I was playing Stray and i got bored because you have to find so many stuff and i get stuck at levels i can't beat.

I'm just complaining because i'm bad at it but it's so freaking annoying that i have to google answers when i'm stuck why can't the ask for hint button actually give me a hint or smt

Anyways, this results in me not finishing games like:

Eastward (like half way into the game) but i keep getting stuck on this one level. The game itself is actually beautiful but i dont got allat time bro i retried like 30 times.

yeah it's pretty pathetic i hope they give you the option to skip a level or smt
